The Victoria Hotel’s 1920s-style café is an elegant stopping place for a pastry or a spot of afternoon tea. The experienced baker can also whip up a decadent cake – perfect for beach season.

You won’t find much in the way of atmosphere here, but if you are one of the ‘littlest Hobos’ passing through town, you just might find something of interest in this café. Desserts, whole cakes, fresh bread and even liquor are all on the list of the many, random items being sold at Cibus. Conveniently located directly across from the bus station… how convenient.

This trendy lounge/ café might make you feel like you’ve just walked in off the streets of Hollywood. The warm, red splashed walls, several breakfast options, fresh sandwiches and a variety of pastas
may make you want to stay all day, and maybe you will. Sinful desserts and espresso based beverages are just some of the other reasons to linger.

With breakfast omelettes, smoked salmon salad and several quiches, the menu is more sophisticated than one would expect for such a tiny, mall café. If you miss out on the breakfast or lunch specials, there are an array of luscious desserts and beverages to keep your mouth occupied. We quite liked the
place, but it’s somehow just not as warm or special as their first location in Haapsalu.

Diners sit in egg-shaped wicker chairs under clouds of metal cups in this busy café in the Port Artur 2 shopping mall. There’s no menu in English yet, but you can just ask about the schnitzel offerings or
point to the 40kr soup buffet.

Oddly located in a shopping centre lobby, this grill/café is nevertheless strangely cool and comfy.

This quaint little bistro in the park is owned and run by an Italian and it’s obvious given the fresh authentic ingredients and friendly service. The piada pizza and house wine made us feel right at home. Look for pizzas available during afternoons in the summer months.

at times you may have to stand.

Hang on, is this a café or is it grandma’s house? At Supelsaksad it’s hard to tell, but a cosy jumble of old-style furniture, sophisticated tunes and fantastic food have made this neighbourhood café a runaway hit. Old ladies in berets drift in at lunchtime for tea and cakes, while at night younger patrons linger over wine or coffee. Soups, salads and pastas are available in addition to the drinks and sweets.

Built into the recently-renovated Endla Theatre, this large, starkly-modern café with its large windows and sofas can easily accommodate any intermission rush. Head to the upstairs portion for a cooler atmosphere and outside seating.

The food selection in this downtown café/wine bar is pretty much limited to quiches and cakes, but the soft ambience, large tea selection, handmade chocolate truffles and over 200 wines on the list make Piccadilly a definite must-visit. Come by for wine and jazz on the weekend.
