Hansa Festival in Parnu

During many centuries Pärnu was a connecting-link between medieval Europe and Russia, being a port, trade center and hanseatic town.

In 2010, the people of Pärnu will have the honour of hosting the contemporary Hanseatic cities at the International Hanseatic days.

Parnu Accordian Festival

The 27th Pärnu Accordion Music Festival, originally a one day event, has over the years grown into an international festival held over several days. During the festival a competition for bands and orchestras takes place, and the number of contestants has grown to over 200.

XXVIII Pärnu Accordion Music Festival is happening from 27 – 30 October 2010
The Pärnu Airport services charter flights. Pärnu is also a well-known resort, it boasts having spas and a variety of accommodation for about 4000 visitors.

Numerous concerts take place in the city. Festival has become popular among both young and elderly citizens and visitors.  One of the summer top events in Parnu.

Baltic-Nordic Harmonica 2010

is being held for the ninth time in Pärnu, from July 30 to August 1. The festival is popular and attracts many visitors.
There have been harmonica players from Nordic and Baltic countries as well as from Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, England, Italy, USA and France.
The special guest of the festival this year is the quartet Fata Morgana (Netherlands) and the virtuoso Jean-Louis Emmenecker (France), Jantso Jokelin (Finland), Karl Madis and Tõnu Aare along with the legendary band Apelsin

Juri Jaanson’s Two Bridges Run

Named after the former world champion in rowing and the silver medal winner in Beijing Olympics, it is a popular public event, the track of which overlaps with the Two Bridges route. The Run has become a valued trademark presenting Pärnu as a healthy city, contributing to promoting the city’s image.

Parnu Film and Video Festival

The Pärnu Int. Documentary Film Festival, founded in 1987, is the oldest film festival in Estonia.
The aim of the festival in general is to support cultural survival of peoples. Only documentary films of high value and quality, recording human activities in social, historical or ecological context are accepted for competition screenings.


Main subjects: Human Interest, Social Issues, Art, Music, Culture, Survival of Indigenous Cultures, Docs for Kids, Author’s POV.


The festival is held every July.


An international jury awards the grand prix for the best film.

Since 1999, a separate competition has been held for films, what will be broadcast in Estonian Television (Estonian People’s Award)

The highlights include:

  • International Competition in Pärnu from July 11 to July 18, 2010.
  • Fascinating thematic travelling program.
  • Films are showed in different towns of Estonia from July 18 to July 25, 2010.
